Reflecting back on my road trip across America (see how I did it super cheap here), I decided to make a little guide on the most incredible and must see views of Arizona. I can honestly say I’ve traveled to most of the midwest but this state has my heart. It’s got the never ending roads, insane mountain views and incredibly friendly people (I’m from New York so that was a rare occurrence for me). Everything from the rock formations to the land art left me absolutely mesmerized. These views changed my life and hopefully they will change yours too so keep reading! 🙂
Spot #1: Horseshoe Bend
Not going to lie to you, the walk towards the bend nearly killed me and I’ll tell you why. Aside from the fact that it was 95 degrees with no shade in sight, the walk was exceptionally long (30 minutes towards the bend and 30 minutes back). Remind me to go early in the morning with lots of water next time. Apart from those circumstances, the sight was a stunning beauty. Just breathtaking and totally worth the long walk.
Spot #2: Slot Canyon (Secret Antelope Canyon)
I went to both Antelope Canyon and Slot Canyon and when it came down to it, I recommend Slot Canyon. What’s the difference? Absolutely nothing except there were fewer crowds and more freedom to do as you please. You are not allowed to do a self-guided tour so make sure you book in advance; the reason being they sell out fast. What I liked the most about this tour was that it was much more photographer friendly. At Antelope Canyon, I could not stop too long for pictures because I would end up losing the tour guide and it was too much pressure for me. Especially being in foreign territory.
But at Slot Canyon, the guide personally told us to take as many pictures as we wanted with no rush, no restrictions (except drones), and he did not bother us until we were done with our photo shoot. Maybe it’s just me but I hate being watched while I am trying to take my pictures. As I said, the pressure is too real.
Adding on, be prepared to travel across very steep and bumpy roads. The whole time I thought I was going to die. I also scare easy. Go at your own risk. Overall, I would do it again. The view was unbeatable, tour guides were super friendly and it was just an amazing experience.
Spot #3: Grand Canyon
If you love nature and want your mind blown, definitely take a visit to the Grand Canyon. You can take all the photos you want but none of them will ever do it justice. Try to get there during the early hours because the line to get in can feel pretty lengthy. I’m talking 45 mins to an hour-long. But once you are in there, it is out of this world. We decided to stay by the South Rim and got the chance to explore Yavapai Point. Walking to towards that edge made me a little nervous but the view just couldn’t be topped. Overall, a very spiritual experience.
And that’s it, my top three must see and most incredible views of Arizona that are most likely to take your breath away. Let me know if you’ve ever been to these spots or if there is anything else worth seeing? I love seeing your responses! 🙂
XOXO Tatiana
